Careers
Work for a company that runs posts properly
Security work is only as good as the operation behind it. At Worcester Security Guards, officers take posts with written orders, a supervisor who actually shows up, and a dispatch desk that answers — every shift, around the clock.
The Work
What the job actually is
No mystery, no bait-and-switch. These are the four things our officers do, and you can see how a full engagement runs on the how it works page.
Standing posts
Construction gates, building lobbies, residential communities, loading docks. You control access, verify contractors and deliveries, log activity, and handle after-hours visitors according to the post orders — not according to guesswork.
Patrols
Interior and exterior rounds verified by electronic checkpoint scans, plus vehicle patrol assignments in marked, GPS-tracked units. Routes vary so patterns don’t form. See mobile patrol for how those routes are built.
Reporting
Every shift produces a record: digital activity reports, incident reports with photos, and logs a client, an insurer, or a fire marshal can actually use. If it isn’t written down, it didn’t happen — so we write it down.
Working with dispatch
Officers stay connected to our 24/7 dispatch desk by PTT radio. Escalations, welfare checks, coordination with police or fire, coverage questions at 3 a.m. — there is always a live person on the other end.
Hiring Standards
What we look for
We hire for the things training can’t fix. The rest we can teach.
- Licensing eligibility. You must be able to meet the licensing, registration, and background requirements that apply to the posts you’ll work. We walk through the specifics during the hiring process.
- Reliability. A post that goes uncovered is a failure we don’t accept. Showing up, on time, every scheduled shift is the baseline — not a bonus.
- Professionalism. Uniform squared away, conduct courteous, presence calm. Tenants, patients, and guests should feel better when you’re there, not worse.
- Clean written communication. Your reports get read by property managers, insurers, and sometimes police. Clear, factual, complete writing matters here.
- Judgment. Observe, report, de-escalate. Officers who look for confrontation don’t last here; officers who prevent it do.
- Willingness to be verified. Checkpoint scans, supervisor inspections, and documented shifts are how we prove our coverage. If accountability bothers you, this isn’t the right company.
What Officers Get
The backing to do the job right
- Real post orders. You’re never dropped on a site to figure it out. Every post comes with written orders: the property, the risks, the procedures, who to call.
- Supervision that supports rather than surprises. Field supervisors inspect posts — and they also answer questions, fix problems, and back your calls.
- 24/7 dispatch behind you. You are never alone on a decision. Radio dispatch is staffed around the clock for escalation and support.
- Equipment appropriate to the post. Radio, checkpoint scanning hardware, and marked GPS-tracked patrol vehicles where the assignment calls for them.
How we run the operation
Before you apply, read how we think about supervision, verification, and accountability — it’s the same story we tell clients, because it’s true in both directions.
